Dr. Michaels goes on to explain that proper footwear, a healthy diet, and routine foot checks are a few things that help prevent wounds and protect the feet. “In the upcoming summer months, it’s important to avoid walking barefoot in common areas like pools and locker rooms. You can contract many communicable diseases and wearing flip-flops or sandals allows a protective layer between you and the floor,” Dr. Michaels said.
