Wound Care
Center of Excellence

In our Wound Care Center of Excellence we utilize advanced compounds to heal wounds fast.   Sifting through the large amount of different wound care supplies takes time and we constantly review new technology for its usefulness and efficacy in order to stay current in this ever changing field.  If a wound develops, it’s usually on a patient that is referred to us and not on one that is currently being treated and maintained by our effective protocols.  In addition to utilizing advanced wound care products, for  over 23 years we have and currently still use engineered allografts such as Dermagraft®, Apligraft and amniotic grafts for wound closure. We were the first facility in this area to utilize this technology.  If these conservative modalities fail to heal a wound we have the ability to close wounds surgically using skin grafting or flap rotation.   Having this advanced plastics training gives us another tool to effectively close wounds quickly and with minimal morbidity to patients.   As Podiatric Surgeons we know the foot and ankle and the biomechanics associated with these structures, so utilizing this knowledge, we can modify the foot surgically to reduce pressure and osseous prominences that are the actual cause of skin break down in most cases.  We also offer advanced wound supplies covered by insurance so you have what you need to do dressing changes at home on your own.  These wound supplies are FDA cleared and are natural protein based advanced wound care products used to give your wound the building blocks it needs to heal quickly.  This natural approach allows faster recoveries in most cases.
