MD Podiatrist Discusses Common Mistakes When Buying Running Shoes
Dan Michaels, DPM points out some common mistakes people make while buying running shoes. For example, he says one misconception people have is that more cushioning is always better. “Cushioning can improve comfort and reduce impact perception, but excessively soft shoes may also feel unstable for some runners,” Dr. Michaels says, adding, “The sweet spot is usually enough cushioning to improve comfort without sacrificing control.”
Dr. Michaels cautions that a big mistake he sees patients make is “choosing running shoes based on appearance.”
